Skip Monday is a 5 piece St. Lucian acoustic/electric alternative rock band comprising drummer Alvin (Fats) Alexander, bassist Christopher De Freitas, vocalist Stacy Charles, guitarist/vocalist Nicholas Devaux and violinist Yannick James. Three of the band members have been together for 15 years, starting out in the rock/reggae group Disturbing Joan.

As an Alternative Rock band, Skip Monday set out to follow a path outside the mainstream music scene in St Lucia dominated by Soca and Reggae. The band places heavy emphasis on carefully arranged original material with melodies that are instantly appealing. The foundation of their genre is unapologetically rock based. Over the years however, as the music has evolved, distinct blues, r&b, and even the occasional jazz influence has been woven into Skip Monday’s arrangements.

Covering acts such as, Adele, Dave Matthews Band, Rihanna, Imagine Dragons, Daft Punk, John Mayer, Eric Clapton, The Beatles, Jimmy Hendrix, Pink Floyd and even Metallica and Nirvana, Skip Monday’s live repertoire is a blend of old and new school rock and pop artists that is as different and dynamic as it is entertaining. The members of Skip Monday have participated in several Jazz festivals under their previous name of Disturbing Joan and more recently as Skip Monday. Over the years they have opened for Maxi Priest, Shaggy, Third World, Barrington Levy and most recently Karen Briggs at the 2013 Jazz Festival in St Lucia.

Skip Monday’s performance is entirely live; no synthesizers or drum machines are used. The band goes to great lengths to ensure its delivery is thoroughly entertaining; their music will stay with you long after leaving the stage.

Skip Monday plays on a regular basis at several bars in the Rodney Bay area including Delirious, Treasure Bay Casino, Rodney Bay Marina, and occasionally in Vieux Fort at Island Breeze Bar. The band is in the process of recording material like The Fall released in April 2014 and also launching their website Skipmonday.com. They have a Youtube channel and can also be found on Facebook .
